Supporting Barnardo’s Boloh Helpline with our interpreting
Clear Voice are proud to be working with Barnardo’s, providing pro bono interpreting for the Boloh Helpline. Boloh was established in October 2020 and provides advice, signposting, emotional support, and free therapy to adult asylum seekers UK wide. The service also provides support to black, Asian and minority ethnic families across the country and, in particular, support to those coping with respiratory infections in young children. The Boloh Helpline was initially set up in response to disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on these communities, but over the past 15 months its scope has expanded.
What the Boloh Helpline offers
In Urdu and Hindi, the word Boloh means “to speak” or “to talk”. By enabling people to share their experiences – to talk – the Boloh Helpline helps them receive the support and advice they need. This includes up to eight free sessions of therapy, delivered by a qualified Barnardo’s therapist. Helpline advisors can also offer practical support such as food vouchers, clothing, and access to digital devices.
How Clear Voice is supporting this
Effective, accurate communication is key to enabling this support, and that is where Clear Voice interpreters come in. With our substantial experience handling sensitive calls from vulnerable people our telephone interpreting service was the ideal fit for the Boloh Helpline.
To support the valuable work of Barnardo’s and the Boloh Helpline Clear Voice is providing pro bono interpreting for the Pashto and Dari languages. These are in high demand across our services at the moment, a result of the ongoing political and humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. This has led to a substantial number of refugees seeking a safe, secure home.
